This cinta or hair ribbon was woven on a back-strap loom in the village of Almolonga in the department of Quetzaltenango where the Mayan dialect of K'iche' is spoken. The wearing, and thus the weaving, of these cintas, is becoming rarer as they are mostly worn by older women. This cinta includes geometric designs, people, and animals. It is,for it's age, in great condition.
