This is a traditional styled Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala huipil. It is large and was woven on a back-strap loom in 3 panels and then joined together with the decorative flower stitching. This huipil may have belonged to a woman who was a merchant as there is a gap in the stitching in front and also partially open on one side. Unique piece. It is large at 28" long on each side and 32" wide. Both sides of the huipil are pictured.
