23" long on each side (sides are sewn closed) x 33" wide1990's Huipil from Chajul, one of the 3 villages in the Ixil Triangle. Huipiles from Chajul are characterized by their whimsical animals or birds. Here, the double-headed eagle is represented. Design is front and back. The soft cotton red base cloth was woven on a back-strap loom in 2 panels. Very nice piece with nice shoulder design.
