Zippered Pouch w/ Woven Animals from Nahuala #PP008

$ 38.00

This bag is made from vintage textiles from the village of Nahuala in Guatemala. It is approximately 20 to 30 years old. It is made from a huipil (traditional Mayan woman's blouse) which was woven on a back-strap loom. The huipil is the most important element of a woman's traditional dress as the design and style of each is specific to the village in which the woman lives.

Note the lions and other animals in the weaving.
