Santo Domingo Xenacoj, Guatemalan huipil

This is an older and very traditional huipil from the village of Santo Domingo Xenacoj with the red base cloth.  This huipil was woven on a back-strap loom in 2 panels with the traditional whimsical animals and geometric designs at the shoulder.  This huipil is open on the sides so the full measurement is 58" x 33".  The neck opening is small so if you are purchasing to wear, it would need to be enlarged - usually slitting at the shoulder and reinforcing does the trick.
